![]() This is troubling due to the fact that if they ever needed them, they would not want to use them with the fear they may get targeted, and be made out to be the victim. Young Minorities show little to zero trust in police officers. This is a scary stat and should not be taken lightly as that's not very good odds, at all. Children and teens also know that, as a minority, they have a 1000 to 1 odd of being murdered unjustly by the hands of a police officers (Knox, 2020). The severity of this is incredibly frightening. This could be caused by mental strain, and major stress on the youth, our future (Knox, 2020). ![]() Students in high death hot spots show a great decline in overall grade point averages. Our nation's youth is affected in a poor way by the actions of police officers. The effects that these unnecessary police violence has on the youth community is far more disturbing. These stats alone prove that reform is necessary, and needs to be accelerated in a major way. This has led to ongoing violence in key cities crossed the country, which is costing lives of even more citizens, and even the deaths of police officers and injuries as well. The ongoing racial targeting has sense fueled activists, such as the Black Lives Matter movement that has, sense its founding, has grown considerably in size (Seigol, 2020). A visiting migrant was shot 41 times, the worst part was, he was never even armed to begin with, making this an unjustified shooting to the full degree. Another prime example is New York City in 1999 (Seigol, 2020). This was put into the public view, and accelerated the fact that Police Officers were in fact targeting people of color. Use unnecessary force towards said minorities. The New Jersey state police were conducting routine checkpoints, and were caught stopping most motorists who were people of color. ![]() Take New Jersey back in 1995 for example. Racial profiling within police departments has been going on for generations and shows no signs of slowing down. Police reform, aimed at defunding Police Departments on a national level, has been on the table for generations. Only a proper reform and change things for the better, and put our country in an upward trend. Police racial profiling and brutality was a problem then, and is an even bigger problem now in present day America. Well, his dream that addressed to the American people in the 1960's has since turned into a nightmare for not only the black community, but minorities as whole. Police Reform for a better America Social injustice and racial profiling within police departments can be rectified by police reform in departments across the country by deleting racial profiling as whole and leaving officers responsible for their actions, further protecting the youth community, and changing the training syllabus police recruits must adhere by to graduate and uphold the law.
